Bud is Poppyscotland’s micro-museum travelling across Scotland sharing stories of reflection and hope.

After seven years on the road, Bud is retiring.
Bud has been a key part of Poppyscotland's education programme, bringing interactive learning experiences to schools and communities across Scotland and helping young people understand the importance of remembrance and support for the Armed Forces community.
Since April 2019, Bud has travelled the length and breadth of Scotland sharing the story of the Scottish poppy:
- Visited more than 630 schools
- Delivered over 1,500 sessions
- Reached more than 56,000 pupils
- Attended over 115 community events, welcoming almost 18,000 visitors
- Engaged nearly 75,000 people overall
The journey has taken Bud everywhere from island schools in Lewis, Shetland, Orkney and Skye, to remembrance services at Alva Academy, and even a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
What's next
While this marks the end of an era, we are proud of the difference Bud has made and grateful to everyone involved in delivering the programme. We remain committed to education and are exploring new ways to continue engaging with schools across the country.
The Poppyscotland Learning and Outreach team will continue the school outreach programme across Scotland. Learning and Outreach Officers will go into classrooms to deliver interactive taught sessions, hosting two sessions per school day — one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We're also looking at an assembly offering for schools, along with outreach sessions with our youth groups. Over the summer, we'll be finalising the new learning and outreach programme content with people who work in education across Scotland.
